HLGU won its second straight match to improve to 4-8-2 on the season and 4-4-1 in the AMC.
The Trojans scored the game-winner with a minute remaining in the first half. Hugo Lopez booted a corner kick into the box. The ball bounced around and deflected off a few players before freshman Kelvinny Santana poked it into the goal.
Senior Isaac Lehmkuhl scored in the 72nd minute. Winicius Paiva Pessoa ripped a shot that was saved by the Hornets keeper. The ball rebounded right to Lehmkuhl who was there to finish.
The Trojans accumulated 16 shots in the match, with eight of them being on goal. HSSU posted 13 shots with five on goal.
Micah Thompson made five saves to earn the shutout for HLGU.
The Trojans are scheduled to host Central Baptist College at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Blackwell Field.
