Palmyra doubles duo going to state

Reagan Lehenbauer and Jansen Juette will represent the Palmyra girls tennis team at the state championships. 

The Palmyra doubles duo placed second at individual districts Monday and earned a 6-4, 6-1 sectional win over St. Dominic on Tuesday to advance to the Class 1 Tournament in Springfield next week.

"The girls played well tonight and we are very proud of their accomplishments this year," Palmyra coach Jessica Gottman said. 

Amy Bryan finished third in singles for Palmyra at individual districts, securing an 8-1 win in the third-place match against Helias.

Blair Burton and Elizabeth Stilley led Hannibal at the same district tournament by taking fourth in doubles. The Hannibal pair won their first two matches but fell in the semifinals and third-place match. 

Hannibal's Elizabeth Brummell and Shelby Pritchett won 6-1, 6-1 in the first round of doubles against Tolton but lost in the district quarterfinals to Palmyra.

Kaylee Dissel lost to Mexico in the first round of singles, while Sascha Pauly was eliminated in the district quarterfinals by Helias.
