Hannibal unable to contain Lady Hornets

The Hannibal softball team was unable to contain Fulton during a 10-4 North Central Missouri Conference road loss on Thursday night.

Hannibal pushed across a pair of runs in the first inning, but Fulton responded to score in every frame after that to secure the victory.

The Lady Pirates fall to 7-7 overall and 5-2 in NCMC.

Lauran Haye stood out for Hannibal with a 4-for-4 day at the plate in the losing effort. Her RBI single scored Avery Lake in the first inning for the initial run of the game.

Josie Zeiger grounded out to drive in Adrya Nichelson to make it 2-0 Lady Pirates in the first.

Fulton (18-2, 8-1) took the lead with three runs in the second and never gave it back, extending its edge with a run in the third and two more in the fourth.

Lake and Haye each had RBI singles for Hannibal in the top of the fifth, but Fulton put three runs on the board in the bottom of the inning.

The Lady Hornets scored once in the sixth for the final margin.

Taylor Wilson allowed seven earned runs over four innings to take the loss for Hannibal. Kylie McAfee surrendered one earned run over two innings of relief.

Three Hannibal errors led to two unearned tallies. Fulton totaled 11 hits in the contest to the Lady Pirates' seven.

Sydney Hart finished with two hits and a run for Hannibal.

The Lady Pirates are scheduled to host Mexico on Monday for another NCMC matchup.
