The Mark Twain softball team played solid through three innings on the road Thursday to trail Bowling Green by just a run.

Mark Twain couldn't keep up after that.

The host Lady Bobcats erupted for six runs in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth to enforce the mercy rule in a 10-0 Eastern Missouri Conference victory.

Haylee Chandler hit a 3-run home run and went 4-for-4 with five RBIs to lead Bowling Green's 14-hit attack.

Mark Twain committed three errors that led to six unearned runs.

Emma Clarkson (single), Paige Eddington (single) and Autumn Arndt (double) provided the only three hits for the Lady Tigers.

Summer Scherder pitched a complete game shutout while striking out five and walking none to earn the win for Bowling Green, while Sydnee Brothers took the loss for Mark Twain after allowing four earned runs over 4 2/3 innings.

Mark Twain (0-4, 0-2 EMO) is scheduled to host Clark County on Monday.
