The Monroe City golf team dropped a dual to Highland at Mosswood Meadows after nearly a two-week absence from playing.

Monroe City golf coach Rod Galloway did not want to make any excuses for his young team, but he could see the effects of Mother Nature Thursday evening.

The Panthers dropped a dual to Clarence Cannon Conference rival Highland 199-227 at Mosswood Meadows Golf Course after nearly a two-week absence from playing.

“I could definitely tell we hadn’t been on the course for a while,” the veteran coach stated. “Plenty of dust. But the kids hung in there and battled through it.

“Hopefully the weather will start to cooperate sometime soon and we can start developing some consistency.”

Evan Janes tied Highland’s Dalton Klocke for medalist honors. Both golfers posted 45s on the round.

“Evan had a nice day for us,” Galloway said.

Ryan Kendrick (60), Landon Shinn (60) and Danny Dennison rounded out the scoring for the Panthers.
