Shelby Stine stands out in the box score for scoring six goals for the Hannibal girls soccer team Thursday night during a 10-0 home win over Fulton at Porter Stadium.
But look a bit further and you'll find the Lady Pirate who often worked behind the scenes to make the scoring possible.
Haley Ballinger dished out three assists in the victory.
Her first two helpers went to Stine. The third was to Kaylee Falconer, whose second goal enforced the mercy rule four minutes into the second half.
"Haley ended up with a hat trick of assists, if you will," Hannibal coach Eric Hill said. "She hasn't found the back of the net yet this year, but she does a nice job being probably the most unselfish player on the team.
"She helps us move the ball. If a teammate is making a run and she can put them in a good spot to score, she'll do it right away. That showed tonight."
Stine posted all six of her tallies in the first 32 minutes and scored a hat trick within the first 10.
Following an unassisted score in the 4th minute, Stine added two more 47 seconds apart from each other in the 10th minute assisted by Ballinger and Falconer, respectively.
"For getting the 10-0 win, we didn't play great in the first 10 minutes of the game," Hill said. "But the girls started knocking the ball around a lot better and finding the open teammate, moving quicker. We played some unselfish soccer."
Stine found the back of the net again in the 13th minute off an assist on a corner kick from Hannah Nichols.
Falconer struck for a goal off a free kick in the 19th minute.
Two minutes later, Nichols scored via a Chloe Ebers assist to extend the advantage to 6-0.
Maddie Janes made the most of a pass from Nichols for a goal in the 31st minute before Stine recorded two more scores — the second assisted by Ballinger — to give the Lady Pirates a 9-0 lead at the intermission.
For the game, Hannibal totaled 21 shots, of which 14 were on goal, while Fulton managed one shot and zero on target.
Lady Pirate keeper Shelby Nelson made one save to secure her fourth shutout of the season.
Hannibal improved to 4-1 on the year and 4-0 in the North Central Missouri Conference.
