The HMS 7th grade Pirates basketball team kept its quest for a perfect season alive with a pair of victories over the weekend.

Hannibal started hot and soared to a 54-25 victory over Macon on Friday night.

Courtland Watson put together a strong defensive performance, racking up over ten steals while disrupting the Tigers' offense. He finished with 13 points and also dished out five assists.

Aaris Stolte was in attack mode putting in 13 points, while Harry Oden was close to a double-double with ten points and several boards. Keaton Scott loaded the stat sheet with points, assists, rebounds and steals, too. TJ Dorsey and Andrew Catalpa were rebound machines, both snatching double digits.

"We played a great game and just dominated every area of the game," coach Brett Niemann said.

On Saturday, Hannibal used aggressive defense to defeat Highland 40-16.

Dorsey finished with over 20 rebounds, while Scott scored 11 and Stolte finished with nine.

"The bench continues to improve, and our defense is becoming really good," Niemann said. "When we get it going offensively and hit our shots, we're going to be tough."

The B team finished the year 8-0, while the A team (12-0) moved two wins away from completing an undefeated season.
