We need strong, experienced, ethical leadership on our board of education

We need strong, experienced, ethical leadership on our board of education.

Tuesday, April 2, voters of the Hannibal School District have the responsibility of electing residents of our district to the school board. We’re sure all those running feel they are qualified for these important positions on the board, but we are writing to voice our support of Pat Benson for one of the positions on the Hannibal School District’s Board of Education. The provisions made for the education of our youth are among the most critical duties we have as citizens of this community and school district; therefore, the number of students, staff, facilities, and equipment needed to operate a district of our size requires a significant investment of our financial resources (taxes). Oversight of millions of dollars of expenditures require a board that is dedicated, skilled, and diligent at overseeing the operations of this large enterprise that is funded by our tax dollars. Pat has invested himself in many ways in our community, with a successful financial services business and service on several boards. He currently is chairman of the Hannibal Regional Healthcare System Board of Directors, serves in various civic organizations, and is active in his church. This is the kind of background and experience needed to function as a school board member in these times when our educational systems are under such scrutiny and so controversial. We need strong, experienced, ethical leadership on our board of education. That’s why we are supporting Pat Benson for election to the Hannibal Public School’s Board of Education, and we encourage you to do so as well.
