Letter to the editor: Time for a change in mindset

Fox news reported a woman in Wisconsin became enraged when the electors cast 10 votes for Trump.  She shouted "This is MY America!"

This woman and millions of people like her have forgotten what it means to be an American.  They have lost the vision of America's place in the world, and the part they should each play individually to keep this country great.

It's time for a change in mindset and the common world view of many Americans. The generation of Americans that had the best world view is almost gone. If we haven't learned anything from them, we've lost our American Will and the desire to give our best to be the best. We've lost the desire and indeed the courage to stand tall and say "I'm proud to be an American!" We need to remember that Americans standing shoulder to shoulder have long kept this country great, we have long kept the world a safer place, and we have long endured and defeated onslaughts against Freedom.

We must resist the attempts by the media and others to keep this country divided. Whether by race, politics, or religion, we are told this country is "deeply divided." That is true only if we let it be true. We all need to regain each others trust and respect, the trust that comes from a common idea that we are Americans, we are all in this together, come what may, and we intend to stand strong with and for each other. United we stand...
