Doris Eileen Sebers, 88, of Hannibal, passed away at 2:25 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Burial will be at the Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Pastor Steve Goughnour will officiate.
Friends and family are invited to Doris’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.
Doris was born March 28, 1931, in Hannibal to James Hayden and Dora Alice Billings Gilbert.
She was married to Richard Lloyd Sebers on Aug 29, 1948,in Hannibal. He preceded her in death April 7, 1995.
Survivors include one son, Richard L. Sebers Jr. (Judy) of Monroe City; one daughter, Debra S. Helbing (Timothy) of Hanniball; eight grandchildren, Tricia Scholes (Gene), Alisia Sebers (Darin Ruby Sr.), Candice Shepherd (Larry), Kimberly Fogle (Ralph), Chandra Lee, Jennifer Preston (Jamie), Jamie McReynolds and Rhiannon Winn; 26 great-grandchildren, Kayla Shepherd, Christopher Sebers, Gene Scholes IV, Rolla Ruby, Lauren McLaughlin (Tyler), Lakin Shepherd, Ashley Ledbetter, Tayler Scholes ( Kyle), Jarrid Ledbetter, Alexis Lee, Brodie Lee, Faith Lee, Darin Ruby Jr., Ryan Fogle, Jordan Fogle, Cody McReynolds, Sadie McReynolds, Dalyn, Kaleigh, Brynn Fiegenspan, Landon Bowlin, Lakoda, Lakia, Lexie, Logan Preston and Thomas Fogle; eight great-great-grandchildren, Brantley Miller, Adalynn Morgan, Gene Scholes V, Memphis Scholes, Bryson Sebers, Hannah Ruby and two on the way, Annistyn Eileen Scholes and Grayson Fogle. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Viola Epley; an infant brother, Harold Gilbert; two brothers, Vernon Gilbert and John Gilbert; one great-grandson, Glen Leroy Ledbetter III; and one great-great-grandson, Finnley Scholes.
She worked at Montgomery Ward in Hannibal for many years as a salesperson until it closed. Doris later worked at Ann's Tax Service for about 10 years. She later worked as a cook for the Stowell School for about 20 years before retiring.
Doris was an avid bowler for many years. She was a member of the Missouri State All Stars Bowling Team, inducted into Missouri Bowling Hall of Fame and bowled all over the country. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, word searches, jigsaw puzzles and embroidering in her spare time. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. Doris was a Jehovah's Witness.
Pallbearers will be Gene Scholes IV, Brodie Lee, Jarrid Ledbetter, Darin Ruby Jr., Jay Underhill and Christopher Sebers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
