Helen Elaine Menger, 85, of Hannibal, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019, at the Hannibal Regional Hospital.
She was born January 12, 1934, in Hassard, Missouri the daughter of Marvin Lloyd and Mary Helen Jarman Johnson.
Elaine was a member of the Bethlehelm Baptist Church, Ralls County. She was a graduate of Monroe City High School. She was a member of the Hannibal American Legion Auxiliary Post 55. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, bird watching and playing cards with the family. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family who she loved very much.
She married John (Jack) Albert Menger, February 14, 1959, and he preceded her in death February 28, 2012.
Survivors include one daughter Sharon Willmann (John) of Kirkwood, Missouri, three sons Terry Menger (Margo) of Ewing, Albert L. Menger (Stacey) of Arnold and John Young (Penny) of Clarence. Seven grandchildren Hannah Sullivan (Patrick), Thomas Willmann, John Albert Menger II (Bobbi Jo), Bryan Menger, Shannon Menger, Brandon Menger, Caitlyn Young and one great grandson Finnegan (Finn) Sullivan. Two brothers Gary Johnson (Dorothy) of Monroe City and Lloyd Johnson (Mary) of Holt Summit and one sister in law Mary Sue Johnson of the state of Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, one brother Pearry Lee Johnson and her step mother Bertha Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at the Garner Funeral Chapel, Monroe City, Rev. Steve Goughnour will officiate, burial will be held at the Bethlehem Cemetery in Ralls County. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at the Garner Funeral Home, Monroe City. Active pallbearers will be Shelby Brown, Russ Schaible, Chris Zieger, Rob Rethorn, Rick Taylor and Lloyd Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be John Menger II, Thomas Willmann, Hannah Sullivan, Bryan Menger, Shannon Menger and Brandon Menger. Memorials have been suggested to the Hannibal American Legion, Post 55.
