Marian was born on Aug. 27, 1927, in Lima, Ill., the daughter of Paul William and Hilda Mary (Altheide) Nagel.

She was united in marriage to Albert (Ted) F. Manzke on June 4, 1960, at Sutter Salem Bible Church in Sutter, Ill. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, John W. Manzke (Terry) of Kansas City and Robert J. Manzke (Jenny) of Palmyra; six grandchildren; Katie Manzke, Abbie Thompson, Meredith McAlister, Micah McAlister, Peter Howell Jr. (Megan) and Stephanie Miller (Richard); five great-grandchildren; and many other loved family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Martha Lorene Miller; and two brothers; Roger Dale Nagel and Jarel William Nagel.

Marian graduated from Hamilton High School in 1945 and went on to further her education at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill., and graduated from there in 1949. Marian then went on to New York City, N.Y., for nurses training at Bellevue Hospital to prepare for work in the mission field.

Marian dedicated the earlier part of her life to mission work, spending time in Ethiopia as a nurse and spreading the Word of God. She left there in 1973 to come back to the United States and raise their family. Marian never forgot her mission and devoted her entire life pointing people to Jesus.

She loved the brown bag Bible study at Fifth Street Baptist Church and the scrabble group at Luther Manor but nothing brought her more joy than her family, friends and the love of Jesus.

Marian was a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church in Hannibal.

Pallbearers will be Trent Harlan, Richard Miller, Peter Howell Jr., Daniel Emmite, John Manzke and Robert Manzke.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fifth Street Baptist Church, in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
