Bernardine S. Carson, 89, of Monroe City, passed away at 10:37 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at her home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Monroe City.

Pastor Chad McMath will officiate. Burial will be at St. Jude's Cemetery in Monroe City.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Monroe City.

The family is being served by the James O'Donnell Life Celebration Home of Monroe City.

Mrs. Carson was born September 11, 1929, in Palmyra, to Lawrence H. and Christine E. Bynum Kroeger.

She was married to Wesley Carson on July 30, 1948 in Palmyra. He preceded her in death Nov. 9, 2014.

Survivors include three sons, Bob Carson (Suzi) of Monroe City, Dennis Carson ( Barb) of Monroe City and Steve Carson ( Dianne) of Mahomet, Ill.; one daughter, Donna Skeen (Mike) of Hannibal; eight grandchildren, Joe Carson (Ali), Kris Whitehead (Charles), Jeff Carson (Angela), Becky Shipe (Coty), Brandon Carson, Scott Carson (Sarah), Michael Carson and Eric Skeen; and eleven great-grandchildren; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Bud and Sonny Kroeger; and one sister, Betty Boland.

A graduate of Palmyra High School, Bernardine retired from Monroe City School District where she worked as a teacher's aide for 27 years.

She enjoyed working outside and tending to her flower gardens, working on jigsaw puzzles and traveling. Most of all, she treasured time spent with her family.
Bernardine was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monroe City.

Memorial contributions may be made to Monroe City Food Pantry and/or FBC Youth Group and/or CLC Hospice Bowling Green.
