Obituary: Rita JoAnn Stallard, 60, of Hannibal

Rita JoAnn Stallard, 60, of Hannibal, passed away at 8:05 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at her home.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.  Father Mike Quinn and Pastor Tom Day will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at the funeral home.

Rita was born July 21, 1958, in Pittsfield, Ill., to Edward Shade, Sr. and Joan Martin Shade.

She was married to Paul Stallard on July 17, 1987, in Hannibal.  He survives.

Other survivors include 5 children, Steven Ewing (Ginger) of Hannibal, Kelly Zimmerman (Richard) of Hannibal, Chad Ewing of Hannibal, Heather Stallard of Wichita, Kan., and Tiffany Carroll (Jeff) of Hannibal, 2 grandchildren who lived with her, Cory Bradford and Carlee Bradford, 2 brothers, Edward Shade (Denise) of Roodhouse, Ill., Chuck Shade (Nancy) of Springfield, Ill., 2 sisters, Penny Spears of Jacksonville, Ill., and Brenda Elliott (Mike) of Hannibal.  She is also survived by 22 additional grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 1  grandson, Steven Caskey and her mother in law and brother in law.

Professionally Rita worked as an operator for DURA Automotive.  She was also a certified nurses assistant for many years and worked as a caretaker for NEILS.  

Rita enjoyed gardening, bird watching and loved taking care of her rose bushes.  She was a collector of Elvis memorabilia and porcelain dolls.

Attending a Reba concert with her daughters, sisters, granddaughters and niece was one of Rita's favorite memories.  Rita's family was her most prized possession

Rita was a Baptist by faith.

Memorial contributions may be made to the James O'Donnell Funeral Home for funeral expenses.  

Pallbearers will be Mike Weatherby, Randy Weatherby, Bobby Weatherby, Johnnie Ewing, Michael Ewing, Corey Lambert, Billy Kempf, and Darrell Wheeler.

Honorary pallbearers wIll be Steven Ewing, Chad Ewing, Richard Zimmerman, Jeff Carroll, Cory Bradford, Austin Carroll and Chris Shade.

HANNIBAL | Steppin' Back, the Hannibal band that traditionally opens and closes the seasonal Music Under the Stars concerts, is again scheduled twice in this year's concert dates. The band plays '60s, '70s and '80s rock and roll.
