Obituary: Elsie Marie Couch Schroder, 83, of Hannibal

Elsie Marie Couch Schroder, 83, of Hannibal, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2019, at her home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2019, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Pastor Michael Neff will officiate.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Schroder was born July 25, 1935, in Hannibal to Roy Couch and Edith Stroud Couch Spencer.

She was married to Alan Paul Schroder on May 16, 1986, in Monroe City. He survives.

Elsie is survived by six children, Robin Resa, Michael Neff (Susan), Melinda Ferguson (Kent), Daniel J. Neff (Robby), Carla K. Burke (Chris Douse) and Wesley Neff (Cierra); one sister, Edith Sullivan (Dan); three brothers-in-law, Howard Schroder (Pansie), David Schroder, (MaHa) and Gary Schroder (Mary); and two sisters-in-law, Pat Eihmen (Ron), and Pauline Wilson. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Paul Schutze (Shirley) and Vernon Couch (Eleanor).

Professionally, Elsie was a waitress and had previously worked in the dietary department at St. Elizabeth's Hospital.

Elsie loved to write short stories and poetry. She also was accomplished in embroidery and cross stitch. Elsie loved her Pomeranian dogs. Some of her favorite things include silk flowers, butterflies, angels and her favorite color was blue. 

Shopping, dining out and watching "The Wheel of Fortune" were always activities Elsie enjoyed. Most of all, Elsie cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Shay Elledge, Preston Neff, Cody Williams, Jalin Neff, Chris Douse and Aaron Neff.
