Obituary: Dorothy O'Dell Hoots, 90, of Hannibal

Dorothy O’Dell Hoots, 90, of Hannibal, passed away at 8:38 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, at Willow Care Center in Hannibal.

Cremation arrangements are being handled by the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel. There are no services scheduled at this time.

Dorothy was born on Jan. 29, 1928, in Hannibal, the daughter of Herman C. and Mary Ethel (Ewing) Stuckey.

She was united in marriage to Paul Herschel Hoots on Nov. 30, 1947 in Hannibal. He preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 1975.

Survivors include a daughter, Laura Good Buffalo (Dean) of Hannibal; grandchildren, Ebanie Arthur (Luke) of Hannibal, Toniia Williams of Arlington, Texas, Clarissa DeBock (Chris Ablard) of North Platte, Neb., Pauleana Good Buffalo (Evan McArthur) of Hannibal and Chance Good Buffalo of Hannibal; great-grandchildren; Emma, Alex, River, Meadow, Vitallia and Caidence.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hoots was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Stuckey; and sister, Alberta Mae (Stuckey) Hinshaw.

Dorothy graduated from Hannibal High School in 1946. Mrs. Hoots was a homemaker and cherished the time spent with her family, friends, and neighbors.

In her free time Dorothy enjoyed walking and working in her garden, growing Thomas Edison Dahlias and Peonies.

Mrs. Hoots was a Christian by faith.
