Obituary: Eva Louise 'Lou' Yates, 76, of Hannibal

Eva Louise "Lou" Yates, 76, of Hannibal, passed away at 10:49 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal.

Funeral services will be at noon Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at the First Christian Church in Hannibal. Rev. Steve Barker will officiate. 

Friends and family are invited to Lou's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the church. 

Lou was born May 10, 1942, in Hannibal to Charles Lyle Akright and Catherine Alberta Menger Akright.

She was married to Carl Yates on Aug. 31, 1963, in Monroe City. He survives.

Other survivors include two children, Scott Yates (Mary) of Loxley, Ala., and Amy Yates of Hannibal; three brothers, Gerald Akright, Donald Akright and Richard Akright; two sisters, Mary McKay and Sharon Lovelace; six grandchildren, Phillip Yates, Tyler Yates, Corey Roth, Carlie Ward, Laiken Gendregske and Cambrie Gendregske; and many wonderful great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sarah Beth Roth; one grandson, Austin Yates; and two brothers, George Akright and Edward Akright.

Professionally Lou worked in sales, where she loved taking care of people's needs. She spent 20 years working at the Kirlin's Hallmark Store and also at The Famous.

Lou attended the First Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorial contributions be made to Pinkie Pals.

Pallbearers will be Corey Roth, Phillip Yates, Jim Shoemaker, Jim Lovelace, Drew Ward and Tyler Yates.
