Jeffrey J. Eickelschulte, age 48, of La Grange, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at 1:35 p.m. at his home.

Jeff was born Dec. 11, 1970, in Quincy, Ill., the son of James and Marcia Voorhis Eickelschulte.

He graduated from Quincy High School in 1989. Jeff received a bachelor's degree in business and social work from Quincy University.

Jeff loved his work as a social worker at Levering Regional Health Care in Hannibal. He was an enthusiast in the Boy Scouts. He was a leader for Scouts in Quincy, Ill., Canton, and Hannibal for many years, and involved in the local Explorer Post. Jeff would always volunteer to help at summer camp for the Scouts and even received the honor of being a Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow. Jeff was a lifelong enthusiast of the outdoors. He also would help out at the La Grange Lions Club. He treasured spending with his family most of all, and was always willing to help anyone at anytime. Even through all his health issues, Jeff always had a positive attitude toward life.

Jeff is survived by his two children, Tyshai Eickelschulte of Lebanon, Ill., and Tyrelle Eickelschulte of Quincy; his mother, Marcia (William) Watkins of Quincy; his father, James Eickelschulte of Haines, Fla.; brother, Jason (Emily) Watkins of Quincy; a sister, Janel Watkins of Quincy; three nephews and a niece, Jackson Gibson, Austin, Chandler and Margaret Watkins; aunt and uncle, Roger (Mary) Voorhis, and Velma (Bud) Holm; numerous cousins; and a great friend, Tabatha Smith.

Jeff was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and two uncles.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2018, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home in Quincy with Pastor Kendall Meyer officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2018, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Mississippi Valley Council Boy Scouts of America.
