Louis W. McCune, 64, of Monroe City, passed away at 7:12 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal.

Louis W. McCune, 64, of Monroe City, passed away at 7:12 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal. 

A visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Louis was born Nov. 20, 1954, in Quincy, Ill., to Loren William and Elizabeth "Betty" Johanna Wagner McCune.

He was married to Connie Reeves. She survives.

Other survivors include three children, Tara McCune Moss (Phillip) of Hannibal, George Sullivan (Kelly) of Monroe City and James Sullivan (Ronda) of Monroe City; 12 grandchildren, Lauren, Hunter, Madalynn, Henlee, Cass, Ida, Dakota, Makayla, Chasity, Miranda, Kaley, and Eli; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gregory Michael (Donna) of Kingdom City and Robert "Bob" McCune (Kathy) of Missouri; and one sister, Mary Patricia Happle of Monroe City.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James Arthur McCune, Charles Anthony "Tony" McCune and Roger McCune; and one daughter, Marian Sullivan.

Professionally, Louis worked at Watlow, where he retired from the shipping department where he worked as a lead for many years.

Louis loved NASCAR and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He enjoyed spending time at the pond or on the river fishing. An excellent cook, Louis made the best fried chicken and potato salad. Louis would religiously read the newspaper from cover to cover and liked to read on his Kindle. Tom Hartman and Rachel Maddow were a few of his favorite authors. Blues music, watching football, visits to New Orleans, and time with his pet dog were a few of Louis' favorites.

He was an advocate for the donation of life.
