Francis “Les” Garrett, 59, of Palmyra, passed away at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2018.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Father Mike Quinn will officiate.
Friends and family are invited to Les’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at the funeral home.
Les was born on July 13, 1959, in Hannibal to Sonny and Charlotte Haught Garrett.
Survivors include Les’ mother, Charlotte Garrett of Hannibal; two brothers, Richard Garrett (Wanda) of Hannibal and Brad Garrett of Hannibal; one sister, Morgan Whelan (Gerald) of Hannibal; two children, Kelley Garrett of Wright City and Shane Garrett of the state of Colorado; and three grandchildren, Gaige Garrett, Emma Foust and Dylan Foust. Also surviving are Les’ special friends,  Krista Stevens and Brandon Studer.
Les was preceded in death by his father.
Professionally Les was a lineman with first the City of Palmyra and later with the City of Hannibal.  Prior to becoming a lineman, Les had worked as an over-the-road truck driver at Colt Industries, at Knapheide Manufacturing and also in automobile painting.
Away from work Les loved to watch Kansas City Chiefs football, St. Louis Cardinals baseball and NASCAR. Les also enjoyed watching and playing golf. An outdoorsman, Les enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also liked to garden and can vegetables. Some of his favorite things were listening to rock music, namely AC/DC, eating lobster and drinking a cold Bud Light.  
Socializing with friends and spending time with family were times that Les always liked. He treasured the moments he was able to share with those he cared about most.  
Les was a Catholic by faith.
Pallbearers will be Randy Wheeler, Jeff Pettitt, Tony Franklin, Matt Crane, Daric Crane and Rob Bush.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Mastin, Brandon Studer, Mike Begley, Jason Parrish and Brenton Walotka.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hannibal VFW Post No. 2446 or to the St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
