Robert Earl “Bob” “Bubba” Bowen, 82, of Hannibal, passed away at 3:37 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2018 at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.

Robert Earl “Bob” “Bubba” Bowen, 82, of Hannibal, passed away at 3:37 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2018 at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.

Funeral services with full military rites by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 will be at 12 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate.

Friends and family are invited to Bob’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Bob was born April 13, 1935, in Hannibal to Albert Earl and Helen G. Hobson Bowen.

He was married to Becky Latta on June 28, 1987 in Hannibal. She survives.

Other survivors include six children, Kimberly "Sunshine" Smith (Charlie) of Dallas, Texas, Robert "Bobby" Bowen (Tiffany) of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Rhonda Smith (Michael) of Hannibal, Shelly Greenwood (Danny) of Crystal City, Kellie Cookson (Jay) of Hannibal and Jamie Bowen of Hannibal; two sisters, Patsy Bowen of Ocala, Fla. and Marie Darnell (Bob) of Ocala, Fla.

Bob is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and special family, Kelli Jaenicke and Lisa Latta.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William Bowen.

Bob served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army.

Professionally, Bob first worked as a meat cutter before starting a long career in construction. Bob was a member of Labor Local #424 and retired in 1997. In his retirement, Bob worked also as an apartment manager.

Away from work, Bob loved to watch sports. St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and Dallas Cowboys Football were two of Bob’s favorite teams. Bob rarely missed a NASCAR race; Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr. were two of Bob’s favorites. Life’s simple pleasures like a good cigar and cold beer were always enjoyed by Bob. Trips to Ocala, Fla. and to Dallas, Texas to spend time with family were some of Bob’s favorite trips. A talented cook, Bob’s goulash and fried potatoes with onions were a specialty. Above all, Bob cherished most the time he shared with friends, family and his favorite dog, Lucy.

Bob attended Clover Road Christian Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hannibal Nutrition Center or Northeast Missouri Humane Society.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Connor and Chad White.
