Obituary: Benjamin 'Dick' Perry, 85, of Palmyra, Mo.

Benjamin “Dick” Perry, 85, of Palmyra, Mo., died at 4:10 a.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 25, 2016, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Grand View Funeral Home, Hannibal.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at the Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal. Rev. Andrew Walker will officiate. Burial will follow at the Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.

Dick was born on July 19, 1930, in Hannibal, Mo., the son of Richard and Elizabeth Mae O’Keefe Perry.

His parents and two brothers, Joe and Robert Perry, preceded him in death.

He is survived by two brothers, John and Carl Perry; as well as nieces, cousins and close friends.

Dick was a lifelong farmer of corn, soybeans and wheat. He would only operate John Deere equipment on his farms. Dick had been a member of the Marion County Coon Hunters Association and the NRA. He enjoyed coon and coyote hunting as well as fishing, especially crappie. His love of cards was evident as he hosted a card night every Thursday night for many, many years. He was the best neighbor a person could ever have and enjoyed spending time with his friends. Dick was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Palmyra.

Pallbearers are Steve and Karen Begley, Jamie and Megan Gottman, Jared and Dulcie Stewart, Drew and Tory Smith, Mike and Robin Hofacre, Tom and Sarah Stone, Kent and Vaness Rupp, Ron and Karen Glecker, and Chuck and Becky Jones.

Honorary pallbearers are the Thursday night “camp” group and neighborhood friends.

Memorials may be sent to the Zion Lutheran Church of Palmyra.
