Margie Henrietta Gordanier Lipp, 86, of Monroe City, Mo., passed away Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at the Monroe City Manor, Monroe City, Mo. She was born Sept. 11, 1929, in Monroe City, Mo., the daughter of Henry and Mattie Huls Garrelts. She attended Noland Country School in Monroe County, and graduated from Monroe City High School. Henrietta was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Monroe City, Missouri. As a young woman, she worked as a waitress at various restaurants in Missouri, Minnesota and Illinois. She later worked at Sunshine Biscuit in Kansas City, Mo. She then worked for Henderson Produce Company. She worked as secondary worker at Diemakers, Inc. She retired after 19 years with the company. She was married to Southern Eugene Gordanier Sept. 16, 1961. He preceded her in death March 16,1998. She later married Verlon “Cotton” Lipp July 3, 2004. He preceded her in death March 25, 2015. Survivors include two daughters, Denise Shontz and husband, Jim, Topeka, Kan. and Joan Long and husband, Greg, Owasso, Okla.; stepson Richard Gordanier and wife, Judy; eight grandchildren, Emily Jones (Mark), Sara Elisabeth Morrow (Chris), Michael Morrow (Amber Hide), Dana Cooper (Dave), Dr. Erica Hurley (Dr. Phillip Keck), Alex Long, Brian Gordanier and Carrie Shuett; six stepchildren, Roger Lipp, Jeff Lipp, Gary Lipp (Patty), Kathy Benn (Dennis), Ricky Lipp (Sue) and Nancy McGehee (Mike); also survived by 11 stepgrandchildren, 11 stepgreat-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; four brothers, Julius, Arlie, Johnny and Ivan Lee Garrelts; three sisters, Wilheminia Ash, Helen Roberts and Shirley Hawn. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2015, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Monroe City, Missouri, Pastor Kenneth Schamber will officiate, burial will be from the St. Jude Cemetery, Monroe City, Mo. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday evening at the Garner Funeral Home, Monroe City, Missouri. Active pallbearers will be Mike Drew, Alex Long, Keith Hendrix, Phil Mann, Derek Lipp, Phil Roberts, Steve Hawn, Stacy Hawn, Michael Morrow, Jeff Hendrix, Mark Long and Jim Shontz. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Gordanier, Paul Calvert and Roger Lipp. Memorials have been suggested to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
