Hannibal Free Public Library and Jim’s Journey plan a Robert Townsend Movie Marathon on Friday, Sept. 21 and Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Hannibal Free Public Library, in celebration of the anniversary of Jim's Journey founding

HANNIBAL — Hannibal Free Public Library and Jim’s Journey plan a Robert Townsend Movie Marathon in celebration of the anniversary of Jim's Journey founding with movie showings at 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21 and Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Hannibal Free Public Library, 200 S. Fifth St.

Robert Townsend, writer, producer, director and actor, was born in Chicago, Ill. on Feb. 6, 1957, the second oldest of four children to Shirley and Robert Townsend. Shirley Longmeyer Townsend is daughter of Fred Longmeyer. She grew up in Douglasville and attended Douglass School. Three to five significant films by Robert Townsend will be shown throughout the two days. Some films shown will be suitable for mature audiences. The Robert Townsend Movie Marathon will take place in the Library’s Board Room on the 3rd floor.
