Painting, reading go hand in hand for upcoming event

Children will have the opportunity to paint their own wooden pig plaque inspired by the short story “Piggie Pie!” The event will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Open Door Studio, 108 N. Main St.

Children will have the chance to exercise their creative skills with paint after reading the short story "Piggie Pie!" at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Open Door Studio, 108 N. Main St.


Participants will read the short story "Piggie Pie!" about pigs who outsmart the witch who is hungry for piggie pie. After reading the story, each child can paint a six-inch by four-inch wood pig plaque with acrylic paints that they can take home that day.


Registration is available online at www.OpenDoorStudio108.com on the event page. The event is recommended for participants three years of age and older. The cost is $8 per pig plus tax.
