HANNIBAL - One person was missing and one person transported by ambulance from the Mississippi riverfront in Hannibal at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, after a boat collision was reported.

At 10 p.m. WGEM-TV, the Courier-Post's newsgathering partner, reported the Missouri State Highway Patrol had issued a warning for people to be on the lookout for a white female with blonde hair, who was missing in the river.

A river search had begun shortly after the collision was reported, and a Water Patrol boat was among the boats used for the search.

A collision between a barge and a pleasure boat had been reported earlier on social media about emergency responders' radio traffic. The collision was on the Illinois side of the river at Hannibal.

After numerous municipal and county emergency vehicles were called to the scene, a large crowd gathered at the riverfront, where the riverfront construction project is fenced off from the public. Only emergency vehicles were allowed near the river.

The Hannibal Police Department declined to comment but promised to provide a report of the incident later.
