HANNIBAL - On Friday, Aug. 2, Hannibal Police Department officers were notified that a man who stole a vehicle out of Quincy, Ill., was parked at South Eighth and Church streets in Hannibal.

Officers contacted a 31-year-old Quincy man, who failed to comply with commands and fled from officers.

Spike strips were used to deflate one of the suspect’s tires. He later stopped in the Huck Finn Shopping Center, where officers attempted to negotiate him out of the vehicle. After some time negotiating with the suspect, he exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident.

The HPD was assisted by Marion County Sheriff's Department, Marion County EMS and Mark Twain Behavioral Health.
