After months of working closely with Golden Eagle Distributing, the Hannibal Bicentennial Committee announced the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales will highlight the Bicentennial Parade, held at 11 a.m. on June 22. The parade will feature the full hitch of Clydesdales, complete with special driver and Dalmatian, aboard the 1903 Studebaker beer wagon.

The parade will include a variety of floats and entries. A $200 prize will be awarded for best float, and $100 prize for best bicentennial-themed entry.  There will also be a Mayor’s Choice plaque awarded. The parade will progress east Broadway, turn north on Third Street, then east on North Street and process along historic Main Street.

That evening, the Bicentennial Balloon Festival will be held on the campus of Hannibal-LaGrange University. Featuring many colorful hot air balloons, this event will have two balloon launch times, and tethered balloon rides will be available Saturday from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. on a first-come, first serve basis for $15. A Saturday launch is set for 6:30 p.m. At approximately 8 p.m., pilots will fire their burners, and the balloon glow will light up against the blackness of the night sky.

A sunrise launch will take place Sunday, June 23, at 6:30 a.m. Come to both for a completely different experience!
