The Hannibal High School's soccer team's memorable season came to an end Saturday when the Lady Pirates lost to Wentzville Liberty 5-2 in the district semifinals.

"We finished the season 19-5 and are graduating seven seniors with some great leadership and soccer ability," said Hannibal Coach Eric Hill. "We should bring back a solid core for next year, as we have a lot of talented younger players in our program."

On the Saturday, Liberty went up 1-0 in the 14th minute when Hannibal scored in its own goal. Hannibal tied it at 1 in the 27th minute on a goal from Haley Ballinger. Liberty went up 2-1 in the 39th minute and led 2-1 at halftime.

Liberty took a 3-1 lead in the 45th minute. Hannibal got it to 3-2 in the 69th minute when Kaylee Falconer scored on a corner kick assisted by Hannah Nichols. Liberty went up 4-2 in the 72nd minute and scored again to make it 5-2 in the 73rd minute.

Chloe Netzel scored four goals for Liberty.
