Loafers Car Show shines during Hannibal bicentennial

The 24th Loafers Car Show attracted hundreds of people from the Hannibal area and communities hundreds of miles away to bring their vehicles downtown Saturday, May 11.


Kenny Ball, of Kahoka, received the Best of Show award with his green 1955 Chevrolet. William Caldwell, of Hannibal, received the pedal car donated by the Hannibal Bicentennial Committee. Jim Albert, of Quincy, won the restored gas pump.


Special award winners included:



  • Longest distance — Jim Turnbull, Weston

  • Club Participation: SLICK, 17 participants

  • Tom and Becky: Allan Hufford, 1972 Chevrolet

  • Memorial: Bruce Filley, 1966 Pontiac

  • Best Engine: Ron Boren, 1969 Ford

  • Best Interior: Jim Thomas, 1955 Chevrolet

  • Best Paint: Danny Brant, 1955 Chevrolet

  • Best of Show: Kenny Ball, 1955 Chevrolet

  • Bicentennial Award: J.R. Hawn, 1930 Dodge


 

In Case You Missed It

HANNIBAL |The Bluff City Theater Annex at 403 Broadway will host a summer camp called “A Breath of Fresh Air” for children ages 6 to 10 in July, with separate sessions for two age divisions. It will begin Monday, July 13, and registration is still available.
