The Marion County Ambulance District recently helped sponsor an equipment trailer for the Missouri EMS Funeral Response Team.
According to Chief John Nemes, the district was both honored and excited to be able to assist the team and their operation across the state of Missouri.
"The mission of the Missouri EMS Funeral Response Team is to provide professional funeral support and services to agencies and survivors of Missouri EMS Providers who have given their life in the line of duty, who have died while still actively serving, or who have served as a EMS provider or administrator. Their goal is to represent all members of the EMS profession with honor, dignity, and respect, as well as providing compassionate support and assistance to the families, colleagues, and departments of fallen EMS personnel. We’ve been a part of many of their events, witnessed the importance of the job they do, and fully support them. When we found out they were seeking sponsors for the equipment trailer, we were very excited to have the opportunity to help them and show our support," Nemes said.
Missouri EMS Funeral Response Team Executive Director Tom Yates said the $4,500 sponsorship helped purchase a travel trailer for carrying the equipment relating to their services across the state, as well as other needed equipment.
"We greatly appreciate Marion County and the other services in the state who have committed to helping our organization better serve Missouri. We never charge for our services and all work is provided by volunteers. Any expenses are paid for solely through sponsorships and fundraising," Yates said.
The Funeral Response Team has provided service to over 150 funerals and visitations, not just in Missouri, but other states as well. They have also assisted with the National Response Team. For more information or to make a donation, visit its website at www.moemsfuneralteam.org.
