Pirate tennis team advances to district finals

Hannibal High School's tennis team advanced to the finals of the district tournament on Tuesday when it defeated Duchesne 6-1 in district semifinal play.
In doubles action #1 Collin Poage/Nathan Destefane won 8-3, #2 Austin Brown/Trent Kempker lost 5-8, and #3 Kyle Murphy/Nick Tompkins won 8-2.
In the singles play #1 Poage won 6-2, 6-3, #2 Brown won 6-2, 6-1, #3 Destefane won 6-2, 6-4, #4 Kempker won 6-0, 6-1. Neither #5 Murphy or #6 Tompkins finished their match.
Hannibal, 12-7 on the season, was scheduled to face Saint Dominic in O'Fallon for the district championship on Wednesday.
