The Hannibal Aquatic Center is adding Shark School to its Mermaid School this summer.

The deadline to sign up for Session 1 is June 3 or until spaces are filled. Session 1 is June 24-28, from 10 to 10:45 a.m.  Session 2 will be July 22-26. The deadline for Session 2 is July 1.

There are only 10 spots per class and there are two instructors and a lifeguard on duty during the class.

A FinFun brand mermaid tail or shark fin is required for the class:

·         Participants can provide their own FinFun Mermaid Tail or Shark Fin and pay $30 for the class

·         Participants may rent a FinFun Mermaid Tail or Shark Fin from HPR and pay $50 for the class

·         Participants may purchase a FinFun Mermaid Tail or Shark Fin through HPR and pay $105 for the class.

Jenna McDonald, Hannibal Aquatic Center director, said the mermaid class was really successful last summer. "Everyone really enjoyed the class last summer but we wanted sharks to join in the fun this year."

Swimmers will learn how to safely use their mermaid tails and Shark Fins while participating in this five day course. During each 45-minute lesson, students will have lots of fun activities incorporated in the class: fluke splashes, core rolls, and some synchronized swimming moves. Must be at least 6 years of age and must be a strong swimmer.
