The Fabius River Drainage District issued a flood warning on Sunday, May 5, after learning the rain forecast by the National Weather Service.
According to the NWS, a five-day accumulated precipitation forecast for Northeast Missouri rivers, including North, Middle and South Fabius Rivers, warns the area  could receive up to four inches of rain, beginning Monday night and continuing through Friday.

With this five-day forecasted rainfall event and the Mississippi River projected to rise to 27 feet, the Board of Supervisors of the Fabius River Drainage Distinct (FRDD) is advising the residents and business owners of the potential situation and the possible need to evacuate. The Board will re-assess the situation early Monday morning, May 6, when the forecast is updated and will make a statement at that time.
The FRDD said, “While we are confident in our levee system, the FRDD Board of Supervisors wants everyone to be aware of the potential situation and to not take unnecessary chances.”
