Many special events are planned during Hannibal's Great Girlfriend Getaway on April 26 to 28.

At the headquarters at Java Jive, where tote bags and booklets are available, owner Katy Welch explained some new events this year, including selfie booths outside several businesses. At the Brick Oven, she said, “it looks like you are standing in a brick oven.”

At 2:30 p.m. April 26 Welch reported, “we have had lots of ladies check in. We have groups from St. Louis, Lake Ozark and Michigan.”

The Hannibal Jaycees are involved this year, she added. A Girls Night Out concert is planned at the Jaycees' Tanyard Gardens at 7 p.m. April 27. This is a Johnny Cash tribute, and the Mark Twain Dinette will bring its food truck, with beverages sold by the Jaycees. Tickets will be sold at the gate.

Another special event is a performance at 2 p.m. April 27 at Bluff City theater of “Shame! The Devil: An Audience with Fanny Kemble,” with a ticket discount for ladies bringing their booklet from the weekend event.

Additional events include prize drawings at the headquarters, a scavenger hunt, demonstrations by downtown merchants, including several at the Powder Room, special food treats at restaurants and a home tour from 2-4 p.m. April 27.
