The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission recently awarded a contract for improvements to Route 79 in Marion County.

International Rigging Group was awarded the contract for bridge painting improvements over Lyon St. and Warren Barrett Drive, the Missouri Route 79 viaduct and Reservoir Street Bridge over Missouri Route 79 on Mark Twain Avenue both in Hannibal and the bridge over Troublesome Creek on Route A near Hester. The contractor submitted the low bid of $241,045.

Work on the bridges will take place during this summer. When a start date is established, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will alert the public about the project through signs, news releases and social media.
