The YMCA Youth Programs in Hannibal will now be exclusively supported by the local McDonald’s through a $5,000 donation. Eric Abts, YMCA of Hannibal executive director, contacted Bob Gilstrap, owner/operator of the Hannibal McDonald’s, with this first-time opportunity to be the sole supporter of their youth programs this year. McDonald’s of Hannibal has a proud history of supporting their local community and this year is no exception with Gilstrap committing to this opportunity. The golden arches will now appear on the back of every YMCA Youth Program t-shirt such as soccer, baseball and basketball. The donation will go towards helping provide more than 1,000 area youth with their performance t-shirts, as well as provide the scholarship funds for families in need so that their children are able to participate in youth sports, year-round. "The YMCA is so special to us and this community. Encouraging active lifestyles in the lives of children is important to us at McDonald’s and we’re so proud to be able to support these programs at this level in 2019," said Gilstrap.
