Jenni Dant elected to Basketball Hall of Fame

Former Patriot All-American girls basketball player Jenni Dant (Class of 2001) has been elected to the Illinois Basketball Hall of Fame. Dant earned all-state and Parade All-America honors in 2001 after leading Stevenson to a 31-5 record and a berth in the Illinois High School Association Class AA state finals. She spoke about her time at Stevenson ina 2015 Statesman article. After her prep career, Dant played for DePaul University, helping the Blue Demons to three consecutive 20-win seasons and three straight NCAA tournament appearances. Dant finished her DePaul career as the school’s fifth-leading scorer all time with 1,633 points in 122 games, and is still ranked No. 9 in program history. She also is fourth in career steals (269) and 11th in assists (343). Dant was drafted by the Houston Comets in the third round of the 2005 WNBA draft, the 28th pick overall, before playing professionally in Europe. She most recently was director of operations for the Wright State University women’s basketball program. Dant and the other inductees will be honored during the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association’s 47th annual Hall of Fame Induction Dinner on May 4 at Illinois State University. She is the daughter of Faye and Joel Dant.
