Representatives from several area agencies gather for the third “Pinwheels for Prevention” awareness event Friday, April 5 at the Marion County Courthouse in Hannibal. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and several area groups work together to help children who are victims of abuse or neglect and provide support to parents. Each person placed a pinwheel on the courthouse front lawn, and they represented Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Tenth Judicial Circuit Children's Services, the Probation and Parole Office, Douglass Community Services, the United Way of the Mark Twain Area, The Child Center and the Juvenile Office. “It's a nice, eye-catching thing for people to think about,” Presiding Judge Rachel Bringer Shepherd said.
