The Hannibal Pirates had a rough night Tuesday against the Quincy Blue Devils at Veterans Field, dropping a 10-2 decision. Adam Baxter started on the mound for the Pirates. After two quick outs to start the game, the Blue Devils loaded the bases. Jayden Rice delivered a double that would account for three of the Blue Devils' four first-inning runs. The Pirates rallied in the bottom of the first. Will Whitaker got things started when he was hit by a pitch. Gabe Worthington followed with a single to move Whitaker into scoring position. Chase Kirby's ground ball scored Whitaker. Worthington would score on a passed ball. The Pirate offense struggled to get runners into scoring position the remainder of the game. The Pirates used four pitchers in the loss. Baxter took the loss. He pitched two and a third innings allowing three hits, striking out two, and allowing five runs (four earned). Mason Tharp, Danny Colborn, and Charlie Hirner also pitched. Kirby, Lawson Rickey, Whitaker, and Worthington each collected a hit for the Pirates. The loss dropped Hannibal to 3-5.
