Monroe County voters in three precincts impacted by the Monroe City School Proposition 2 approved the measure by a margin of nearly two to one, according to unofficial results released Tuesday evening by Monroe County Clerk Christina Buie.

With unofficial vote totals in from Marion and Ralls counties as of 9:30 p.m., the Proposition that will include construction of a new elementary school, renovations to existing school buildings and other projects was strongly approved.

368 voters approved the measure in Monroe County, and 186 voters opposed it. Ralls County voters did not approve the proposition, with 81 no votes and 50 yes votes. In Marion County, 198 voters approved the proposition, and 105 voters opposed it.
