Hannibal’s Young Masters will be on display at the Hannibal Arts Council from April 1 through April 30.
Each April, the Hannibal Arts Council (HAC) fills its gallery with select works by Hannibal’s fifth grade, eighth grade and Hannibal High School students. The exhibit is being sponsored by the Hannibal Pirate Family Foundation, Riedel Foundation, General Mills Hometown Grantmaking Program and the Missouri Arts Council. HAC gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Wednesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. HAC is closed Tuesdays and Sundays.
The closing reception and awards will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30. Awards will be presented at 6 p.m. A number of students from each grade level will be recognized with a Young Masters Select Award from the Hannibal Arts Council and Hannibal High School Art Department art instructors will give additional awards at their grade levels during the closing reception and awards. The public is invited to attend.
Participating schools at the fifth-grade level are Veterans, Mark Twain, Oakwood, Eugene Field, Stowell and Holy Family. Participating schools at the eighth-grade level are Hannibal Middle School and Holy Family. Students participating in the Hannibal High School Art Department classes fill out the district-wide exhibit. Each instructor selected a specific number of pieces to be included in the exhibit.
