More than 30 vendors will be featured during the first Spring Fling Shopping Spree hosted by the not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC).
The event is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 6 at the Pike County Fairgrounds building on Highway 54 east of Bowling Green. Crafts, jewelry, clothes, art, services and more will be for sale.
There is no admission charge. Door prizes will be given and a raffle will be held. There will also be games for kids and an Easter egg hunt.
NECAC Pike County Service Coordinator Chandra Roberts came up with the idea after managing sports and guns shows in Kansas City.
"We will apply fees that vendors have paid for spaces to an emergency fund that will help Pike County families in need," Roberts said. "The Spring Fling will be a great chance to buy some really great products from local vendors and help our neighbors in need."
Easter egg hunts will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Children must be accompanied by adults. There will be egg-hunting sections for kids seven and younger and kids eight an older. The Easter Bunny will attend from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will not be a photographer on site, but parents may take pictures of their children with the Easter Bunny using their own cameras or devices.
"When I was growing up, the neighborhood would band together and do a huge Easter egg hunt," Roberts said. "It was the main event of spring. People would come with their children and Easter baskets ready to find eggs. It’s a pastime that I want to try and bring back."
Vendors and products will include NECAC, LulaRoe, Scentsy, Thirty-One, Pink Zebra, Tupperware, Paparazzi Accessories, Country Scents, Our Lady of Good Success Academy, Hempworx, Q-Sciences, Little Blessings and Treasures, Initials Inc., Southern Roots Creations, The Craft Crib, Spark Happiness Designs, Amy & Pat, Norwex, Beyond Wood, Farm Charm & Beauty, 4Life, Perfectly Posh, Jan and Christine, Ameren, Knit Happy, Honey Shop, Anna B.
