Soccer Pirates blank Kirksville

Abby Baumann logged seven saves as she picked up her second shutout of the young season Thursday night as the Hannibal Lady Pirates blanked Kirksville 5-0 at Porter Stadium.

"The girls played really well and our defense and midfield did a nice job of maintaining possession and keeping the ball moving. The girls are really knocking the ball around well right now," said Hannibal Coach Eric Hill.

Bella Falconer started the scoring with an unassisted goal in the second minute. Katie Greening scored an unassisted goal in the 21st minute. Payton Frick scored in the 25th minute with an assist from Hannah Nichols.

Haley Ballinger scored both Hannibal's goals in the second half. The first came in the 51st minute on a chip of the Kirksville keeper. The final goal came in the 53rd minute with an assist from Falconer.

Hannibal's JV picked up its first win, prevailing 1-0. Sadie Stine scored the goal off an assist from Baylee Zeiger. Linnea Brown had two saves.

Hannibal's varsity is 3-0 and 1-0 in the conference.
