Pirates clinch conference crown

The Hannibal Pirates clinched the NCMC crown Monday when they defeated the Owls 76-51 in Marshall.
The win, the Pirates' fifth straight, pushed Hannibal's record to 7-1 in the conference and 16-4 overall.
Hannibal, which had beaten Marshall 90-54 on Feb. 9 in Hannibal, built a 20-point lead in the first half of Monday's action, outscoring the Owls 21-10 in the first quarter and 18-9 in the second.
The Pirates' most productive quarter was the fourth when they scored 25 points. Dezi Jones, who led Hannibal with 30 points, netted 15 points in the final stanza.
Also reaching double figures for the Pirates were Adreke Brumbaugh with 18 and Will Whitaker who chipped in 12. 
The Pirates were scheduled to play in Mexico Tuesday evening.
