Hannibal High School participated in Region 3 STAR Events held at Atlanta High School on Friday, Feb. 1, hosted by the Atlanta High School FCCLA Chapter.
The Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a dynamic and effective national student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work, and social issues through Family Consumer Sciences education. STAR Events, (Students Taking Action with Recognition) is a FCCLA program of competitive events designed to recognize individuals and chapters for their proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills and occupational preparation.
Four members of Hannibal High competed in the competition. Collectively the chapter brought home two top gold and three silver medals. Abbey Ward: top gold, in Foods Innovation Occupational; Jessica Stinson: top gold in FCCLA Knowledge Occupational; Anna Richardson and Brecklyn Booth: silver in Sports Nutrition; Jessica Stinson: silver in Applied Math in Culinary Management.
Students receiving top gold will move on to compete at the State FCCLA Leadership Conference, Sunday, March 17 to Tuesday, March 19 at Tan-Tar-A resorts.
