In a meeting Tuesday night of Marion County basketball powerhouses it was Hannibal's boys defeating the Panthers 62-50 in Palmyra.

Hannibal got off to a fast start, outscoring Palmyra 18-9 in the opening quarter.

Dezi Jones led the Pirates with 30 points. He netted all 11 of Hannibal's points in the third quarter.

Also reaching double figures for the Pirates was Adreke Brumbaugh with 10.

Finishing with 17 points for Palmyra was Ragar McKinney.

The 15-4 Pirates, winners of four straight and six of seven, host Fulton Friday night. Palmyra, 18-4, hosts Brookfield Thursday and plays at Highland Friday.
