Piecemakers Quilt Guild (HPQG) members were honored to receive a plaque from the Honor Flight Committee for recognition of their contribution of lap-size quilts given to each veteran returning from a Honor Flight Trip to Washington, D.C.

Annette Hoskins and Carlos Fernandez presented the plaque to the guild on Tuesday, Jan. 8. The plaque will be hung at Park United Methodist Church where the guild holds their monthly meetings at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month.

So far, 1,668 veterans have made the Honor Flight Trip due to the outstanding efforts of community members contributing so each veteran can visit the war memorial of their service time. Many of the veterans are in awe when arriving at Hannibal-LaGrange University after their long day of travel to see the large crowd waiting to thank them.

Quincy and Hannibal have combined their talents to make each of these veterans a lap quilt. HPQG member, Linda Muehring, initiated the Hannibal guild making these lap quilts. Group members are honored to make these quilts thanking veterans for their service and are humbled to have been recognized for their efforts.
