The Hannibal Pirate girls outscored Moberly in the last three quarters of Monday night's game in the Warrenton tournament to pull out a 41-33 first-round victory. "We are continuing to improve each and every game," Hannibal Coach Evan Cerven said. "Offensively our passing looked incredibly better and our defensive effort was fantastic in all four quarters." The only quarter in which Moberly outscored Hannibal was the first when it held a 9-7 advantage. "Our first quarter was a tad rough, but we battled through it to regain the lead and sustain it for the rest of the game," Cerven said. Leading Hannibal offensively with 13 points was Autumn Bigsby. Kaylee Falconer finished with 10 points, five of which came in the fourth quarter. Hannibal, which defeated Moberly 50-44 on Dec. 11, held on for the win Monday night despite sinking just one of eight free-throw attempts during the final quarter.
