LaMarr Minor arrested in shooting during Friday altercation

Hannibal police officers arrested a Hannibal man for allegedly shooting another man during a Friday dispute at Maple and Church streets.

Officers of the Hannibal Police Department were called to the area of Maple St. and Church St. for a fight in progress between two men on Friday, Jan. 4. When they reached the scene, they found that one of the men had been shot.

Officers reported the victim had been shot in the upper torso and the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle. At 1:51 p.m., officers located the vehicle and the suspect, LaMarr W. Minor, 41, of Hannibal, was taken into custody without incident. Minor was placed on a 24-hour hold for first degree-assault and released to the Marion County Jail.

The victim in the shooting was transported to Blessing Hospital in Quincy Ill. in stable condition. Upon further investigation, officers located a handgun they reported was discarded by the suspect during his attempt to flee the area.

On Jan. 5, a warrant was issued by the Circuit Court of Marion County charging Minor with Assault in the First Degree, Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Minor's bond was set at $100,000 cash only. He remains in the Marion County Jail.
